Verbal slapfights as a love language.

Those two definitely get lonely when there isn't someone nearby to constantly backtalk. They can be occupied for hours with just the backtalk.

I'm especially thinking about how interesting this would be in the context of Animated where Ratchet usually keeps his actual intelligence close to his vest and lets people underestimate him as just a cranky old heap of cogs, while TFA!Megatron is one of the most slippery and verbally manipulative of them all. It would be a fun clash of personalities, I think.

Oooh, that would be interesting. Megatron assuming he can run verbal circles around Ratchet, Ratchet just not giving a single fuck about the monologues...the banter would be fantastic.

This is a great idea!

It would also generally work across many continuities (for slightly different reasons in each one), but I think TFA is an excellent use of this dynamic.

Another good example: TFP also gives a very blustery, windbag of a man Megatron (who is markedly less suave than TFA) with a more forthright Ratchet who makes no bones about taking no guff. It's different sort of constant head butting.

I definitely think TFP Ratchet can be just as blustery as Megatron, they're well-matched XD
